2-Nitrocinnamic acid - Introduction
o-Nitrocinnamic acid(o-Nitrocinnamic acid) is an organic compound with the chemical formula C9H7NO4. It has a colorless crystalline solid form.
o-Nitrocinnamic acid is not readily soluble in water at room temperature, but is soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and dichloromethane. Its melting point is 218-222 degrees Celsius.
The main use of this compound is as an intermediate in organic synthesis. o-Nitrocinnamic acid can be prepared by a series of reactions, the most common of which is the oxidation of nitro-cinnamaldehyde (Nitrocinnamaldehyde). Other preparation methods include an oil phase reaction between o-nitrobenzaldehyde and an acryloyl compound.
